Social Justice Books for Black History Month

Three years ago Teaching For Change launched a project called Social Justice Books to identify and promote the best multicultural and social justice children’s books available. Since then, they have created over 60 carefully curated booklists by topic, bracketed out for different age groups. Additionally, Teaching for Change offers educational materials and resources for teaching about African American history at the Zinn Education Project (coordinated by Teaching for Change and Rethinking Schools) and the website for Putting the Movement Back into Civil Rights Teaching.

But before you head to those sites, click here to check out Social Justice Books recommended reading during Black History Month for children ages K-12th grade along with a short list specifically aimed at educators. Get reading!
