New Year, new music! This January, we are highlighting some upcoming Kindie Albums by musician moms! These albums were all created in the span of the pandemic, a time we have all experienced to be extremely challenging since everyone is home, ALL THE TIME! The fact that these ladies were able to publish their work during this time span is an impressive feat in and of itself. Even more impressive though, is the quality of the music itself. Take a listen, here is the line up:
This latest EP was out in late 2020 packed with songs to soothe our collective fried nervous systems. Containing a mix of new and re-recorded previously published songs from her back catalog, this EP is meant to be experienced as a quiet time out for mindful reflection and gratitude. An audio wind-down tool for the whole family. As said by England herself, “The overall take-away [for the EP] is we get through hard things together. Hope these recordings bring a little peace & comfort to your whole family.”
Another bit of self-care gold is coming our way January 21st with this release from the Smithsonian Folkways collection. A Mind if Your Own is a timely collaboration between Nashville-based songwriter Kristin Andreassen and Brooklyn-based child psychiatrist Kari Groff, MD. Through songs and musical skits created to help children connect with their feelings, the album focuses largely on childhood problems like bullies, fear of the dark, learning through mistakes. A lovely collection of songs that were a decade in the making, all working to empower school-aged kids.
Here is a collection of Americana Folk songs penned for the pre-school set. With tracks about best friends who are chickens, the difficulties of waiting, losing teeth, and gaining height, Let’s Go Pistachio is bound to become a family favorite to get out the wiggles and giggles. The album drops on the 29th of this month.
THE GREAT INDOORS, Genevieve Goings
February will bring to eager listeners the first solo EP from GRAMMY-nominated artist Genevieve Goings (from Disney Junior Choo Choo Soul). With its pop music sensibilities, this album will get little feet quickly dancing but, within the 5 song arc, the EP will also get them settled in, as the final two tracks act as wind-downs. Time to explore the offerings of the great indoors starting February 5th, digital release only!
