Emissions-free Fun With Marbula E! (And Formula E)

Hello everyone. I hope you’re all hanging in there. I thought we could use some humor in our lives right now, so here is my contribution.

I’ve been a fan of European motorsport for as long as I can remember. Formula 1, considered the pinnacle of motorsport, is by far my favorite for its technology and the roster of twenty fastest drivers in the world, but I’ve also been following the Formula E series with interest. Formula E started in 2011 as the world’s first emissions-free racing series. It travels and races on city street circuits around the world. If you’re curious, you can watch the races for free archived onFormula E’s YouTube channel.

Spectator sports around the world has come to a screeching halt with Covid-19, but every sport fan is hungry for content. I’m hungry for racing content. Formula E team Envision Virgin Racing has come up with a brilliant solution: they’ve teamed up with Jelle’s Marble Runs to create a hilarious version of a racing weekend, complete with stands full of marble audience. In keeping with Formula E’s mission, it’s still emissions free! Hurray!

Round 2 included a dramatic “Driver’s Eye” view like the drivers’ onboard cameras in real life, but with a humorous twist.

For a taste of the real race, tune in to Formula E’s YouTube page. It took me a race or two to get used to the high-pitched electric engines screaming around the track, but they make the race fun for the fans with features like attack mode (think Mario Kart item boost) and fan boost, where fans can vote in real time to send their favorite drivers speed boosts. Enjoy!
